CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE
On behalf of the Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital, I welcome you all for the 3rd “ANNUAL RCH ICU UPDATE”.
The theme for this year CME will be “OBSTETRIC CRITICAL CARE”.
There is a significant paradigm shift in the field of obstetrics wherein “young and healthy” women are no longer synonymous with pregnancy.
Obstetricians are currently faced with the management of chronic medical conditions (i.e., Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Chronic heart disease, and Obesity)
as women are becoming pregnant at increasingly older ages due to cultural changes and advancements in assisted reproductive technology.
With an increasing prevalence of chronic medical conditions and the associated potential for decompensation to critical illness among present
day parturients, obstetricians find themselves on a new frontier.
Structured approach in the provision of care to the critically ill pregnant patient will serve as a foundation for future attempts to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
I am sure that this CME will provide clarity, knowledge and skills in enhancing the outcome of critically ill parturients among the clinicians across the specialities.
I wish the organizing committee all the very best in making this year ICU UPDATE a grand success.
